Commonly people say they don’t like needles and ask does it hurt. What you need to know firstly is that acupuncture needles are not like hypodermic needles used for vaccinations or giving blood. In fact acupuncture needles are the width of 4 strands of hair. It would take at least 40 acupuncture needles to make the same size as a hypodermic needle. The sensation you may experience is a dull or tingling sensation. Renée works with you and your tolerance to stimulation of the needles. She will make adjustments to ensure your comfort

What is auricular acupuncture? Auricular acupuncture is acupuncture only on the ear. It is understood that the ear is a micro system with points representing all parts of the entire body.

What is cupping? Cupping is where the practitioner uses glass or silicon cups and apply them to the affected area of the body. The cup forms a vacuum seal/suction effect of the fascia it is applied to. Once the cup is sealed white blood cells come to the area and start cleaning up dead blood cells. Once the cups are removed the fascia and muscles surrounding the treated area become loosened and relaxed. This relaxation of muscles and fascia often has the effect of relieving nerve impingement pain and sensation.

What is Moxabustion? Moxabustion is a herb known as mugwort it is compressed to make a stick which is then lite to create warmth. The practitioner will hold the moxa stick over certain points to warm the point. This often has a systemic effect of warming areas of the body. Moxa used over nerve impinged areas has an effect of relaxing the area and relieve symptoms of nerve impingement.
